A simple short term forecasting trick.
In the northern hemisphere, if you stand with your back to the wind, the area of lower pressure will always be to your left.
If the clouds are moving directly away from you, the weather is likely to remain fairly unchanged in the short term.
If the clouds are moving left to right then the weather is likely to worsen. If, however, they are moving right to left then the weather is more likely to improve.
It’s not 100% accurate but it can give you a rough idea of how the weather may change over the next few hours.
After a rainy winter; a plentiful summer.
When round the moon there is a brugh (halo), The weather will be cold and rough. -
Cows all lying down in a field indicate coming rain.
If a black cloud eclipse the solar ray, And sudden night usurp the place of day -
Children sometimes misbehave more on a windy day.
Fogs in February mean frosts in May.
When eager bites the thirsty flea, Clouds and rain you sure shall see.
